My name is Paulette Light and I am the owner and clinical director of Lighthouse Counselling and Social Work Services. I am a Registered Social Worker with the
Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW),
a Registered Social Worker with the
Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW)
and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
I hold a diploma in Social Service Work from Georgian College, a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Lakehead University, and a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.
As a life long learner I am committed to ongoing education and have additional training and certification in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Palliative Care Education, Grief Counselling, Couples Counselling, and Children's Grief & Bereavement Certification.
I have experience working in community settings, supporting children, youth and adults impacted by grief & bereavement, anxiety, depression, stress, and adjustment issues. My experience includes working in employment services, cancer support, palliative care, rehabilitation, and in primary care settings.
I practice social work from a holistic framework through a trauma informed lens. Using a customized approach allows me to meet your unique needs and I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including; Narrative Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Mindfulness-Based strategies, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Strength-Based therapy, and Play Therapy based approaches.
